Digital Society Interview 9: Klaus Lederer

Published on , , , , ,

Framed by the frontpage of Herman Melville’s “The Whale” I asked Klaus Lederer, Senator for Culture and Europe and Mayor of Berlin, for his vision of a good and resilient society. From his point of view we have to find a new balance between the past naive belief in a free and equal digital world and recent dystopian approaches. A good resilient society to him also means a new and transformed capitalism where public space is not only onwed by private economies. This is a point that also Cory Doctorow in his interview adressed.
To Klaus Lederer the challenge on the way to a good digital society is to find ways how to regulate the economic monolopies, how to foster education and to overcome the nation states on an European level.
