Dirk Kaftan

Dirk Kaftan is a German conductor. Since the season 2017/2018 he is general music director of the City of Bonn and the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn. Kaftan has performed at numerous venues in and outside Europe, as well as playing a number of rarely performed works on recordings. He completed his debut with the Beethoven Orchestra as part of the Beethovenfest. But he also tries to reach an audience outside the concert hall. With the newly founded series “BaseCamp Neue Musik” he let the musicians play in BaseCamp Bonn, an indoor campsite, for the first time in 2018. Already in the first year of his function as general music director, he succeeded in doubling the number of visitors in the concert area.
