Ulrike Guérot
Ulrike Beate Guérot is a German political scientist and publicist. She is professor for European politics and democracy research at the Danube University Krems, founder of the European Democracy Lab (EDL) in Berlin and deals with the future of the European integration process. From 2007 to 2013, she headed the Berlin office of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
In April 2013 she published a manifesto for the “Founding of a European Republic” together with Robert Menasse. Both plead for a new foundation of European democracy, a European Republic. Guérot publishes in German and European journals and newspapers on European and transatlantic topics and is regularly invited to comment on current topics in European media.
For her commitment to European integration, she was made Knight of the French Ordre national du Mérite in 2003.
